NANCY HONG, E-RYT 500;LEAD TRAINER & OWNER

Yoga came into my life because of my mom; years ago she brought me to some of her yoga classes with Tam Baker.  Yet it wasn't until 2004, at just the right time, yoga came fully into my life and I started taking yoga classes with Mary DeJong. Soon Mary suggested that I think about becoming a yoga teacher.  because of her encouraging nudge, six months later I started my 200-hour teacher training with Roche Zoet. Then, in 2005, I received another encouraging nudge from my neighbors, Denise & Ron, to teach yoga classes in the neighborhood.  As a result, I opened Yoga-Dog Studio in my home as a newly register yoga teacher (RYT 200) along with my dog, Socks!  In March, 2009, I found the perfect advanced teacher training program at Yoga North, Duluth, MN.  With the other students I sat at the feet of teachers, Deborah Adele & Ann Maxwell.  The program was intense, humbling and life changing.  It also led to some radical changes in my personal yoga practice and my teaching, changes that make the yoga I practice and teach "unique, natural & sustainable" to everyone.

Jacqueline Wilber, E-RYT 50o; M.ed.

My formal education includes a Master's Degree in Teaching & Learning (M.Ed) from DePaul University (Chicago, IL) and a B.A. in English from the University of South Dakota (Vermillion, SD). I earned my 200-Hour Teacher Training from Yoga North (Duluth, MN) under the instruction of Deborah Adele and Ann Maxwell. I began my TT 500 program at the Himalayan Institute in Pennsylvania in the summer of 2013, and finished in the spring of 2016. My yoga instruction aligns with Hatha yoga in the Himalayan Tradition. My focus when teaching the postures is individualized anatomical alignment, which promotes form and function, as taught by Susi Hately. Additionally, I work with Somatics, a practice taught by Thomas Hanna, that heals sensory motor amnesia; similarly, Swami Rama's Exercises for Joints & Glands inform my physical practice. The meditative component of my teaching and practice is heavily focused on breath work, specifically the exercises in Donna Fahri's Essential Breath. 61 Points, Point to Point Sweep, Yoga Nidra, and Prana Dharana meditation practices also part of my repertoire. Spiritually, my personal practice is with Ashtanga yoga and the eight limb path; I have a particular interest the Yamas & Niyamas and the works of Deborah Adele. Lately, I have been drawn to ayurvedic practices, and I completed my certification in the spring of 2016.

Dana hestad; ryt 200

I am a native of Watertown, SD and moved to Sioux Falls about 15 years ago.  I started practicing yoga in January 2008 taking an introduction-to-yoga class through community education.  I continued attending classes at least twice a week.  I found Organic Yoga Company in 2012 and I increased my practice up to three times a week.  After about a year, and some encouragement from Nancy, I enrolled in the TT 200 program at OYC and completed my training in September 2014; it was a life-changing experience.  Since then I've been teaching my own classes, teaching at the Women's History Club, at McKennan Park as well as at Organic Yoga Company.  When I'm not doing yoga I'm an optician for Sanford Health and a volunteer at Dakotabilities.  I also enjoy walking and loving my soft-coated, Wheaten Terrier "Maddie!"
